The RC18T electric stadium truck is pretty good out of the box, but it wasn't enough for us at AtomicMods. So in pursuit of our diabolical quest to take over the mini r/c world one car at a time we created this AtomicBuilt. The RC18T is a solid platform with tons of suspension travel which gives it great rough track handling and respectable jumping prowess and with a few choice upgrades we can make it even better. So whether you find yourself competing at the track or bashing around your neighborhood, this AtomicBuilt will handle most anything you can throw at it.

The Platform
We start off with a brand new Team Associated Ready to Run RC18T that includes basically everything you need to get going; the truck, micro ESC, receiver, transmitter, pre-painted body, and a 6-Cell 1100Ni-MH Battery.

Suspension
First we added Integy's beautifully crafted Modified Shock Set. These shocks offer slightly longer stroke, smoother damping and can be adjusted infinitely with their build in threaded shock bodies and collars. A smooth suspension leads to better stability before and after jumping as well as faster and more sure footed cornering.

Next we add Atomic's adjustable titanium turnbuckles. Titanium is lighter and stronger than their plastic of steel counterparts, plus they allow you to set your camber angles at all 4 wheels and toe angles in the front end. Adjusting camber and toe are crucial in order to maximize your tire wear, and also aid in fine tuning your suspension under specific circumstances.

Drivetrain
The stock drivetrain is very efficient, but with a few upgrades we can make it smoother and more durable. The stock RC18 comes with 4 composite dog bones at each corner. Everyone knows dog bones don't work very well at extreme angles of compression or extension, and since this is an off-road truck, extreme angles will be encountered. To solve this we installed 2 sets (one for the front and one for the back) of Integy's Universal Drive shafts. These drive shafts are super smooth and deliver the power to all four corners flawlessly, with minimal power loss.

Down the center, the RC18 comes with a blue aluminum transfer shaft that although lightweight, is certainly not as light as it can get. This is why we opted for Integy's Carbon Fiber Center Shaft. This shaft is lighter and more resistant to bending than the stock shaft.

Finally to make everything rotate we opted for a Reedy Mini-Mod 17 Turn motor. Honestly, this motor is a screamer. It is much faster than the stock unit and is also fully rebuildable, so it will last you a long time. The motor is then mounted on Integy's aluminum motor mount, this piece is much better looking, much stronger and will help the motor run cooler as well!

Steering
In the steering department we did 2 things. First we replaced the weak, sloppy stock steering linkage system with Integy's aluminum steering bellcrank. The more rigid and precise aluminum pieces allow the truck to track straighter and remove much of the slop in the front end of the truck.

To complete the steering we lock down the servo with Integy's Alloy Servo Cover. This part is probably overkill as it is much stronger than you really need, but it is just SO BEAUTIFUL, we had to have it.

We once again give in to our penchant for bling with this beautifully crafted Atomic SSG Battery Strap.

I have an RC18T with the Reedy Mini-Mod shown here and it is blazing fast! I'll have to get some of these other upgrades to complete my ride!
