This is the setup driven by Cristian Tabush at the PN Racing Mini-Z World
Cup in the AWD Mod class.
It was the
fastest overall car at the 2006 PN Cup, taking top qualifier honors by nearly a
lap and laying down the fastest laps by a good margin not only in the AWD mod
class, but for all classes.

2006 PN Racing World Cup Finals
Top Qualifier / 5th Overall - Cristian Tabush
In our opinion the Kyosho AWD is the best Mini-Z
for competition. Although many fellow racers at the PN event told us the 2WD was
faster, we proved them wrong. With the proper upgrades and proper set up the AWD
can really scream and is also considerably easier to handle than the MR-02.
MA010 Chassis Set: This is a Racing Machine,
So we start with
Kyosho's
Rolling Chassis set and build it from the ground up.
Bearings: This car has a lot of rotating
parts. And even though the bushings are smooth, they wear out quickly and
provide for unnecessary drag. We like running our own
Ceramic Bearing Set, they are the smoothest and have the least rolling
resistance of any bearings on the market. Bearings will increase your run time,
give you a higher top speed and allow for your motor to remain cooler throughout
the run.
Tires: A good set of high quality tires is very
important to go fast. A combination of
GPM 8 deg
rears w/ PN 18 radials up front is the best absolute combination We have
found for the vehicle. Tires are uber-important to get the car to behave
properly. Running too- sticky of a front tire will consistently lead to the
tumbling “traction roll” problems often faced by many racers.
Spring Set: Many people often make the mistake of
setting up the MA010 very hard and very low, another thing that leads to this
car tumbling over. PN racing’s spring set is a great way to get started. . We
suggest starting with a purple front spring.
Ball Differentials: Ball differentials are
essential. The stock differentials on the car are not only weak, but act
inconsistent due to the ease with which they unload under hard cornering (this
refers to the effect with which all power goes to the tire which does not have
the cornering load). We love
Atomic’s
adjustable plastic differentials . The ease of adjustability as well as
their smoothness are tough to beat.
Titanium Universal Driveshafts: Not super essential
for performance, but they are when it comes to durability. The stock plastic
units, even though, light and smooth, often fail. And after all you can’t win if
you can’t finish a race. Our favorite universal’s are
Atomic’s titanium ones,
not only light, but super resistant- plus, it doesn‘t hurt that they look soooo
good!
Aluminum Pinions: The stock plastic ones heat and
expand often leading to them falling off in the midst of intense competition.
Atomic's
aluminum pinion set have a built-in set screws that allow you to tighten the
pinion on the motor shaft so you never loose a pinion again. Did I also mention
they look good???
PN Racing Aluminum Knuckles : 1.5 degrees for the
front end of the car. These beautifully crafted knuckles are a must for
racing. The Delrin sleeves over the kingpin allow for smooth suspension action
and the degree of camber has been picked to allow for maximum tire contact and
long lasting tire wear.
Aluminum Motor Mounts and Motor Heat sink:
A2 and B2
for the optimum gear ratio on this car 19/29 coupled with the
Atomic
Motor Heat sink allow for the motor to get that extra bit of heat
dissipation necessary to keep your motor in tip-top performance.
Atomic SAS (Suspension Arm System): A must have for
the rigors of Modified racing. As power comes up, the car needs to be
better dampened in the rear end to put down the power efficiently.
Atomic's
SAS is the most innovative product to come for mini Z ever, looks cool and
aids in handling a ton! We fine tune this rear end with
2 degrees
of camber,
1 degree of
toe in and
orange
springs.
0 Degree Aluminum Front Tie Rod: If you want your
car to track straight, aluminum is a must. 0 degree provides for good initial steering and high speed
stability
Atomic is our choice here.
Wheels: Atomic’s wheels are cool, you can’t go fast
and not look good.,
2.5 offset
narrow fronts,
0 offset
wide rears .
Elastic Antenna: Who wants interference? We don’t
, so we run this super cool and resistant
antennas
from Atomic. Pick your color.
SSG Front Upper Cover: To tie the package together
we opted for
Atomic's Beautiful SSG Front upper cover. These are
beautifully crafted and work wonders in combination with the Aluminum Knuckles.
98mm Extension Kit: The 98mm wheelbase spec is our choice. A longer car leads to better high-speed stability,
while at the same time moving the weight of the car further forward and providing
more corner speed. The longer wheelbase can be achieved by using
Atomic's 98
mm extension kit.
Lay-down Crystal adaptor: Many of the racier
Auto Scales are too low slung causing the crystal to bind the chassis by hitting
up against the body.
PN racing's
crystal adaptor solves this problem and gives it that extra “trick” factory
look.
Aluminum Wheel nuts: Trick looking and good wheel
locking. Nobody wants to loose a wheel huh?
Kyosho
is the choice for all of our cars.
High End Modified Motor:
Of course during the race we ran the hand out motort which was a PN Pacing AWD
Macho. For practice we like the faster
Atomic T2. It has loads of bottom-end
punch and screams on the top end.
Titanium Screws: The
Titanium
screws shave a few grams off the car, will never strip and they look great.
