Micro-T AtomicBuilt Atom
From the first time we saw the Team Losi Micro-T, we were in love. So many cool features were packaged into such a small truck, it
made our blood pressure rise. As soon as we received our first truck, we couldn't stop playing with them, popping wheelies all
over our office carpet and taking them off of some "sweet jumps".
The one thing we did notice was that the truck was a bit fragile under extreme conditions, and since we like to constantly push
the envelope, the wheels started turning inside our heads on how to make the truck better.
We tried to resist, but we needed more speed, more durability and better performance out of our Micro-T's. So here it is; our
very own rendition of what a Micro-T should be like!
The Platform
Chose a color! We start off with a brand new, RTR Team Losi Micro-T. It comes in your choice of Red, Blue or Green.
Suspension
The Micro-T is great, but it has been known to be a bit fragile and bouncy, so therefore this is where we do most of the modifying.
We start with a set of Atomic's Aluminum Threaded Shock
bodies. Being able to adjust your ride height with just the turn of the shock collars is very convenient when running your
Micro-T. These shock bodies are also smoother and include dampening grease which aid the truck in landings and corners, taking
away the "bouncy" nature of a stock Micro-T.
In combination with the shocks, you must get Atomic's Lowering Spring sets
(front/rear)
to get the most performance out of your truck. We install the yellow fronts and orange rears, but include the rest of the spring
sets so you can fine tune to your specific running conditions.
Next we install Atomic's aluminum Pivot blocks for both
front and
rear. We choose the 2 degree rear block to increase
toe-in and get a little more mid corner traction. These blocks are essential for durability reasons. Having aluminum pivot blocks
really helps when you flip or crash your truck, this is actually one of our favorite hop ups!
The final thing we replace in the suspension is the rear linkage. We love
Atomic's adjustable rear camber links for the obvious- they're
adjustable! In this case they are also stronger, but when driving a 2wd off-road car adjusting your rear camber is a great tuning
option to dial in your truck for the specific surface you are running on.
Steering
Not much is done here, but we do include a set of
aluminum steering knuckles. These are a bit of bling and a bit of function. They do make the front end stronger at a particular
point where the truck is not very weak, but they just look so good!
Drivetrain
A lot can be done in the drive train department to improve performance of the Micro-T. The first thing we add is a set of our very
own AtomicMods Micro-T Ceramic Bearing Set. It is amazing what a
big difference in speed these bearings do by themselves. Ceramics are a must!
We follow with another one of our favorite upgrades: Threaded Axles! We obviously put a set of
front Atomic threaded axles and a set of
rear Atomic threaded axles. Gone are the pesky tiny little
e-clips that are such a pain to deal with. With these axles, wheel and tire changes are quick and easy.
In order to transfer the power down to the wheels efficiently we like mating the rear threaded axles with
Atomic Lightweight Aluminum Dogbones. These are a little bit
lighter than the stock units, and look a whole lot better in anodized colors.
Finally to drive everything forward we include an Atomic Micro BB motor.
This motor is quite a bit faster than stock and ties the package up nicely. Wheelies here we come!
