Atomic Z2 High Current Motor

AtomicMods Product ID: 11060
The Atomic Z2 is our highest RPM motor and has an even smoother power band than the T2 due to its spiralled armature (it has less cogging effect). This is a serious racing motor and pulls a lot of current so you need stacked FETs.

  • Features:
    • Trued armature runs smoother and faster
    • Fat commutator provides durability
    • Light weight armature for faster wind up
    • Open motor can for better cooling
    • Pre-drilled screw holes support aftermarket motor mounts
    • Open End-bell, gives easy access to commutator and brushes
    • Positive brush is Silver, negative is Carbon for maximum power.
    • NEO-Magnets are strong and have a high resistance to demagnetization.
  • Requires:Minimum is 2X2 Stacked FETs but 2x3 is Recommended, V2 is even better.
  • Application Notes:As with all high current motors this one can be burned up if you let it get too hot. If you run Lithium, you must be even more careful. The use of Com Drops lubricates the brushes reducing friction and heat which greatly extends motor life. A Pit Fan is another valuable tool that no serious racer should be without as you can cool the motor much faster and get more track time. You will need to use a file to roughen up the brush tabs (where the wires solder to the motor) in order to get a good connection to the motor and keep the wires from popping off. The brushes and tabs were produced so perfectly that solder doesn't wnat to stick to a surface that smooth.
  • Team AtomicMods Comments:This motor has the best bottom end and mid range power I have ever tested. The amazing tourque and smooth power band make this my new favorite motor! As with all hot winds, keep it cool or it will fry. You should never run more than 15 minutes at a time which is not a problem for regular cells, but if you run Lithium you have twice the run time, so be careful.

There is an intersting difference in power curves between the T2 and Z2 motors. Compare the difference in RPM between the T2 and Z2 at the three different test voltages. At the lower 4.8v the Z2 is faster, but at higher voltages the T2 is slightly faster. My reccommendation is this; if you are going Lithium go with the T2, but otherwise, stick with the Z2. - Rob

I bought this moter and it is incredible. I have 2x4 stacked fets and lithium and i have had no problems, just great results.

I must say this motor is every bit described. 2x3 stacked FETs on an MR-10 and it is simply unbelievable how fast it is. I do not think I would be exaggerating if I were to say it is likely over twice as fast as stock. I'm not one to believe much hype, but this motor (in conjunction with the FETs) more than delivers. It is almost too fast for normal racing unless you alter the gearing or control the throttle trim with another remote. It's torquey and powerfully fast. It's a wonderful motor...

I run this motor in my Gen 1 XMOD, with 2x2 stacked fets, and 2 cell lithium power system, and it SHREDS!!! I use the RS heat sink, even though it doesn't seem to get really hot. Awesome motor!
