"I put my Chili motor in my XMOD and it is wicked-fast in reverse, but barely moves in forward!" This is one of the most common motor inquiries we receive. The answer? You have to flip those brushes!
If you are installing an Atomic Evolution Motor (Stock R or Chili) into your XMOD, you need to reverse the motor's timing by flipping the brushes. This super-quick tutorial will show you the process step-by-step.
Step 2
On the endbell of the Atomic Evolution Motors, you will find a small spring wrapped around a silver post on both sides of the motor.
Step 3
Use your small pliers to unattach the spring from the spring hook located on top of the brush hood.
Step 4
This is what it should look like after the spring is released.
Step 5
Gently slide the brush out and note the direction of the brush is pointing.
Please excuse the ugly hands in the pic. Geez, mix in some hand lotion every once in awhile!
Step 6
Rotate the brush 180 degrees. (Flip it!)
Step 7
Insert the flipped brush back into the motor.
Step 8
Once again use the pliers to reattach the spring onto the spring hook.
Step 9
Now repeat this process on the other side of the motor. If you forget the original orientation of the brushes, you can always look at the end of the motor and follow the diagram of the brushes below the polarity symbols.
