Tutorial 1:28 Mini-Z F-1 Antenna Relocation

Occasionally the F-1 will experience glitches when racing indoors. This is most commonly caused by interference from an RFID lap counting system such as the Core. While you cannot always eliminate the problem completely, moving the antenna away from the metallic center bar will help considerably in most cases.

The following tutorial is a very simple modification that we do to our Team Cars, it should increase your range a bit and also decrease your glitching. The best thing of it all is that it costs nothing to do at all!

Required Items

Step 1

Start by removing the antenna from the original location.

Step 2

Screw the antenna onto one of the holes on the side of the clear part of the chassis. Depending on your body you can use the front or the rear hole. In this case we used the one in front as the rear one would have interfered with the body trim.

Step 3

Line up the body right next to the chassis and with your permanent marker make a mark of where the antenna will approximately come out of the chassis.

Step 4

Put on your safety glasses and with the Unibit drill a hole on the mark a slightly larger than the loop on the antenna.

You can use a Dremel or regular drill, but you risk chipping the paint around the hole. the Unibit will create a perfect hole every time so we prefer to use this tool for body holes.

Step 5

We are done! Quick, simple and this mod should increase your range and/or decrease your interference.
