Racing Clubs

Where can I find others to race with and a track to race at?
To help support this growing hobby, AtomicMods.com is hosting a Local Racing Clubs page. If you know of a racing club in your area please tell us about it and we will post your information so that other racers can find your club.

Rules

I want to start a 1:28th scale racing club, do you have any rules that we can use?
You can find rules published all over the web and adapt them to your own club, but the most straightforward rules I have seen are as follows:

There are 3 classes, Stock, Modified, and Open. If your car doesn't fit in the Stock Class or the F1 Class then you are in the Open Class.

Stock Class Rules
1. Stock Mini-Z, Iwaver, or XMOD PCB. (absolutely no modifications)
2. Stock 130 Motor
3. No FET Stacks or FET Upgrades
4. No Foam Tires
5. No Traction Compounds
6. After-market Suspension Upgrades are Allowed (any manufacturer)
7. After-market Alloy Parts are Allowed (any manufacturer)
8. Batteries Must be either Ni-MH 1.2 volt rechargeable (any mAh), or Alkaline 1.25 volt. (4 cells only)
9. No Lexan Bodies. (permitted bodies include Kyosho Mini-Z bodies, Iwaver bodies, or XMODS bodies)
10. Any Pinion Gearing is Allowed

Modified Class Rules
1. Stock Mini-Z PCB. (absolutely no modifications)
2. PN Speedy05 (BB) , Kyosho X-speed, Atomic Stock motors

Tracks

What track do you recommend?
There is only one track to consider for small scale racing and that is the RCP. See our Tracks section.

What makes the RCP so special?
The tracks feature a soft side rail that helps protect the cars from damage. The side rails measure 1 1/4” tall x 2 3/8” wide and feature a very strong attachment system that will not come loose from RC vehicle impacts. The rails can be removed for storage and transportation or can be left on for quicker assembly.

Can you use both sides?
All RCP tracks incorporate two unique surfaces in each of the kits. You have the option to run the custom RCP racing texture or flip the tiles over to the smooth side for a much different feel. When running soft rubber tires, the RCP racing surface will allow the user to run hard and fast under extreme racing conditions. Setting the car up with hard or stock tires will allow you to drift or turn with some slide. You have the choice to run the RCP surface that best works for your driving style.

Sponsorships

I am a really good driver and I win races a lot, will you sponsor me?
Sorry, aside from the factory Team AtomicMods racing team we don't do sponsorships. Even if you are Dale Earnhart reincarnated, we'll have to pass.

I have a friend who says you sponsor him with all kinds of free stuff.
He's a liar.

How do I get on Team AtomicMods?
First you should know we are pretty picky when it comes to Team AtomicMods. We have some of the best drivers in the world so we are not easily impressed and not only do you have to be a stellar driver, you must have excellent writing skills because drivers are not only expected to race, but to share their knowledge through tutorials and articles. If you believe you are worthy send us an email with your resume and a sample article and we will see how you stack up.

What do Team AtomicMods members get?
They get discounts on product, and serious bragging rights. And they are also paid for the articles they write.
