Q&A Labor

This Q&A section has general information pertaining to Labor. There are several Q&A sections and you will find an index of them at Q&A Central.

General Labor Questions

If I send you my car, how long will it take?
The typical wait is 2-3 weeks on repairs and labor services. We will do a good job, but you must be patient with us. If you can't be patient, please do not send it to us.

How does the Service Estimate service work?
You buy the Service Estimate to get the car into our system. We will look over the car and tell you what it needs. Then we update your order with the required/recommended parts and contact you about it. You can then look at the updated order by visiting the Your Account section of this web site. Once we agree upon the parts and labor to be performed we will complete the work and after payment has been secured we will ship it back to you.

When should I use the Service Estimate?
Anytime we need to diagnose a problem, or look over a car to recommend upgrades.

Why should I pay you to install XYZ?
If you can do it yourself, you should. We actually prefer that our customers install their own products since it a great way to learn more about your car and increase your technical skills.

How often should I check on it?
If you haven't heard from us after a couple of weeks, feel free to check the status. Please don't send us an e-mail everyday asking for the status of your car. We typically have a large number of cars in the shop. If you keep e-mailing us it only wastes time and annoys us. You can check the status of your order using the Your Account section of this web site as much as you like.

Will the batteries be charged when I receive the car back?
They will have a partial charge, but you need to top them off before running.

Minimum Labor Questions

How much is Minimum Labor?
Minimum labor is $55 per car or EP (board). If you are sending two cars or EPs (boards), your minimum will be $110.

Does the Service estimate apply to minimum labor?
Yes, it does. For example, if you paid the $12.50 Service Estimate, sent your car in and we determine that it needs $42.50 worth of work you have met the minimum labor.

When does the Minimum Labor apply?
Generally when you are sending something to us for repair or troubleshooting. The individual labor items all specify whether it applies to them or not. For example, FET Stacking is not subject to Minimum Labor while Bearing Installation is.

Why should I pay you to install XYZ?
If you can do it yourself, you should. We actually prefer that our customers install their own products since it a great way to learn more about your car and increase your technical skills.

What do I do about the minimum labor if all I need is the Tight Turns Installation which only costs $20?
If your labor is below the minimum you can choose more services or use the Miscellaneous Labor item to bring your labor up to the minimum.

The minimum labor used to be $35, what happened?
We had more cars coming into the shop than we could get out unless we worked weekends, which we did many times. We love our jobs, but we need a break like everyone else. So back to to the answer: we raised the minimum labor to slow down the flow of cars coming into the shop.

When did the Minimum Labor go up?
We made the adjustment on February 22, 2006.

Why do you have a minimum labor?
Because it takes time to process these orders, communicate with the customer, and of course fix the car. That and Rob is bent on total world domination and your $55 is going to help him do it.

If I buy the "minimum labor" but I only need $40 worth of installation could I use the extra $15 towards some product?
The only thing you can apply the minimum labor charge to is Labor.
