Are Lithium cells better than a 6 cell mod?
If you want to race the Lithium is much faster due to the light weight and higher current, however if you need a boat anchor, a 6 cell car definitely has the edge.

Absolutely not. I've watched enough Star Trek to know that lithium is a byproduct of Photon... and since Photon reproduces via mitosis then there is never any need to charge.
